@theSANIT78 - ...means a lot about ..the food! Many Haitians agreed that this was one of the very best Haitian food far from home. It was simply stunning (the food!)...
@theSANIT78 - No Haitian restaurant is standing out, in Montreal, at this moment: Steve Anna, Meli Melo, Au Bec fin, etc are just ok . And that joke on Saint Denis, not far from Mt Royal, is not really Haitian! It's just an excuse for lame cooking! I won't mention the name because they get all excited ...for some reason...when you mention their name ..Anyways, the golden age of great Haitian cooking in Montreal is behind us. You think Le Manguier was top...but there was way better than Le Manguier: it was called Le Flamboyant in Rivière des Prairies. The service was nasty (they would look at you as if you were the devil...and treat you accordingly)...and for me to praise the food (someone so sensitive to service) of such
@aromes - What's considered the best Haitian restaurant in Montreal? There was a Haitian place called Le manguier. I always thought it was the best Haitian food in Montreal.
@aromes - Hello again aromes, i went to scarpetta last month following your favorable mention and had a perfectly cooked cavatelli with rabbit ragu. My dad was smitten with his serving of incredible beautiful spag/tomato. Can't remember having had better italian food in the states. As an italian myself i am insanely picky and critical of italian food and can tell you that it is the closest thing to italy that i have come accross in new york. My only caution at scarpetta is that the noise level is overwhelming. I haven't been to the two restaurants gallo nero - lucce.
@guiseppeLANTINI - Buena Sera! My last meal @ Casa Cacciatore was on a Monday. So, I'll pass on this. I'll go back on a Sat evening. There won't be any excuse: on a Sat evening, I expect a restaurant to be at its very best. If this try fails again, I'll erase CC from my list! Btw, someone has recommended Gallo Nero and Lucce.Have you tried them? If Yes, how did you like them? Also: how was my recommendation of Scarpetta in New York? Did you go there? Let me know.
@aromes - I visited casa cacciatore in november and found it too be a very underwhelming experience.Giuseppe
@aromes - Je suis content que t'aies arreté. Ca devenait difficile de choisir!
Had a forgettable osso bucco/mushroom risotto (4/10) at Casa Cacciatore. The 1st time I cooked a risotto, it turned out more exciting in flavor that this one. Dommage, I used to really like their food. I mean, go to Lucca, Di Menna, Da Vinci, San Lorenzo, and I can go on and on...all those places offer food that surpass what I've just sampled at CC by leaps.

Can't wait to pay another visit at LOD perhaps this summer: I can't believe it went downhill. It's as if someone told me that Santorini is now Sodom and Gomorrah, Rfaol! I know, food appreciation is subjective...restaurants is divisie by nature...yep, yeah, yep....but that logic reaches its limits too!
What the heck is happening to Lucille Oyster Dive? Are they abandoning the superb standards that I found there on this meal? That was a startling meal. But then I keep hearing some disappointing feedbacks: (1)Thierry Daraize (2)Marie-Claude Lortie. Now, Marie-Claude Lortie is to me the #1 best palate of all food journalists/columnists around the globe (85% of her judgements being spot on from what I've assessed, which is really high ratio of efficiency, the 2nd best palate of world's food columnists standing around 70% and it's not a Montrealer nor Canadian food columnist btw!..and trust me, I am including all the food journalists, active and
Ristorante Lucca (on Dante) in Montreal has always been a personal favourite (in my top 5 favourite Italian tables in Montreal along with Di Menna, Primo y segundo, and some few others). As with 99% of tables, I had sublime food at Lucca and sometimes ordinary one, but on the long run in maintained its rank among my favourite Italian tables in Montreal. This Tuesday, I had a startling meal of spinach risotto/some veggie julienne/lamb shank. Easily a 9/10 dish packed with benchmarking flavors. My love story for Lucca goes on!
